Reyna battery energy storage facility officially inaugurated in Saint-Avold

Saint-Avold, 3 November 2026

TTEP France, part of the TTEP Group. today celebrates the official inauguration of the Reyna Battery Energy Storage Facility at the Émile Huchet Power Plant site in Saint-Avold.

With an installed capacity of 65 MW and 130 MWh of energy storage, Reyna operation represents an important new milestone in the ongoing transformation of the historic Émile Huchet site. The project strengthens the site’s contribution to the French electricity system by supporting grid flexibility, security of supply and the integration of renewable energy.

For decades, the Émile Huchet Power Plant has played a key role in the region’s energy landscape. Today, the site is undergoing a significant transformation, combining its long-standing industrial expertise with new technologies that support the energy transition while maintaining its strategic importance for the French and neighbouring European power markets.

The Reyna battery energy storage facility builds on the success of the first battery project developed at Saint-Avold and commissioned in 2024. Together with the existing Merbette installation, the two battery systems now provide a combined installed capacity of 95 MW and 175 MWh of energy storage, making Saint-Avold one of France’s leading sites for power flexibility and grid services.

“The inauguration of Reyna marks another important step in the transformation of the Émile Huchet site. By building on the expertise of the local teams and the site’s strong industrial heritage, TTEP is creating new opportunities that support grid stability, security of supply and the energy transition. With Reyna now fully operational, TTEP France reaffirms its commitment to developing flexible energy solutions that contribute to a reliable, resilient and lower-carbon electricity system.”
said Pietro Benedetto, Chief Operating Officer of TTEP and President of TTEP France

The successful development of both battery projects reflects the expertise, commitment and adaptability of the teams based in Saint-Avold. Leveraging decades of experience in high-voltage operations, project development and industrial asset management, they played a central role in every phase of the projects, from permitting and construction to commissioning and ongoing operations.

The projects have also benefited from the constructive support of local and regional stakeholders, whose continued commitment helps create a favourable environment for investment and innovation in the energy sector.

Looking ahead, TTEP France sees further opportunities to develop the Saint-Avold site as an important energy hub. Together with its partners, the company continues to explore projects that can further strengthen the site’s role in supporting the future needs of the French power system and the country’s energy transition.
